So, now that I have figured out the settings to use with Thunderbird - not the ones provided by the "techs" at Mediacom - other mail servers are returning them! Here's a couple of the messages:
Recipient address rejected: Policy Rejection- API Policy Server- Your mail server has been blacklisted, please contact your ISP or API Digital 256-428-8701 (in reply to RCPT TO command)
host mx2.hotmail.com[65.54.188.72] said: 550 SC-001 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. Reasons for rejection may be related to content with spam-like characteristics or IP/domain reputation problems. If you are not an email/network admin please contact your E-mail/Internet Service Provider for help. Yes, I called "tech support" - They are sorry, blah, blah, blah...nothing they can do, blah, blah, blah.
They might try sending us all an email apologizing for the entire system change they apparently didn't thoroughly think out beforehand. Seems like this was an ill planned event from the get go. >:-/
